Happy birthday Blogger.com!

I have discovered the “Bloggers for Bush” website. If you’re a blogger AND a Bush supporter, please check this site out and add your blog as one that supports our President.
Google has an “interesting way” of “ranking” web sites in relation to a word, combination of words or phrases. Essentially, the more sites using a particular word of phrase that point to a particular target site, the higher the ranking of that target site.
Well, Adam Mathes decided to take advantage of this, and as a joke, decided to make the web site of his friend and fellow writer at Uber the highest ranked site when someone searched the phrase “talentless hack”. Amazingly, it worked.
Thus, Adam coined the phrase GoogleBombing.
Apparently, with the advent of Blogs (most much better than The Jackhole’s blog), links are extremely common and have had a great influence on Google’s ranking system. Bloggers have quickly picked up on this.
So it didn’t stop with Pressman being a “talentless hack”. Some bloggers decided to link miserable failure to the White House’s page on George W. Bush. This propelled GW to the top, but recently Michael Moore has been moving up in the miserable failure ranking, followed closely by miserable failure Hillary Clinton.
Others concentrated on Justice Bombs. For example Matt Haughey, founder of the community Weblog MetaFilter, lobbed the most famous Justice Bomb at Critical IP, a corporation he accused of telemarketing to domain-name owners after obtaining phone numbers from an Internet database. Matt shared his negative opinion of Critical IP on his personal Weblog and urged readers to Justice Bomb Critial IP, by stating that Critical IP sucks. A plethora of bloggers carried out the plan, and Haughey’s personal site, and its criticism of Critical IP, became the No. 1 result for Google searches for “Critical IP.”
Although just one month later, Haughey’s Google Bomb was down to No. 62. Most Google Bombs wreak only temporary havoc. The reason: Google weights links more heavily if they are on a Web site’s front page. As a result, most Google Bombs defuse in about a month, as blog posts are archived.
Another group, calling themselves “Operation Clambake” is going after Scientology.
Of course you TOO can play at home. Currently The Jackhole isn’t the top Jackhole. Not yet. To propel me to my proper prominence, all you have to do is place the following code in your blog or web page as often as possible (a couple times a week if you update your site or blog regularly):
<a xhref=”http://jackhole.net” mce_href=”http://jackhole.net” >”The Jackhole”</a>
Happy Blogging!
Even a Jackhole Needs Some Green
OK, I’m going to take a stab at actually trying to break even with this site. However I’ll likely be as successfully at making money on this site as the “Star Wars Kid” will be in getting a date for prom, but even paying for half the expenses would be wonderful. I’m also hoping that this will help spur me to come up with new material.
So, if you like this site, PLEASE check out the sponsors on the top. And if you’d like me to consider sponsoring your site or product, email me!
Well, the domains are up. Hopefully I can get the updates to work as well. Blogger.com still seems to be working the “bugs” out.
